Another Earth

August 10, 2015

In cased you missed it, NASA recently made a very exciting announcement.  They announced that their space hunting satellite Kepler has found the most Earth-like planet yet!  Now, with over 1,000 planets now discovered outside our own solar system, and almost 4,000 more candidates being examined, it’s no longer a huge leap to see we simply cannot be alone out there.  And when we soon find an even closer match to Earth, what else will we find?

Even though we can’t travel there any time soon, we do have the technology to examine the atmospheres on these planets.  And with oxygen being an unmistakable byproduct of life, if we find high concentrations of oxygen in the atmosphere, we will have answered at least one of those questions.

Here is a short video clip on the discovery.  I hope you enjoy it.
